ROTA DUTY TIMETABLE

Aveton Gifford Pre-school is voluntarily run, and we pride ourselves on our close partnership with parents who are invited to help out at the sessions a couple of times a term.  This helps to keep our costs down, but also gives you the opportunity to see what goes on during sessions and to have a chat to your keyworker about your child’s progress. Younger siblings are welcome to come along.

If you are unable to be on the rota duty list, perhaps because of work commitments, please speak either to the chairperson or Mandy.

Perhaps one of the most daunting things that face new parents is ‘what should I do?’  We hope that this guide will help to make the duty enjoyable.

 Approximate times

0900

Arrive.  Consult Playleader for guidance on daily plan and set up tables/ equipment as requested.

0915

Pre-school session begins.  Parents leave and the door is locked.  Playleader takes registration and discussion time.  Help Assistant finish setting-up.

0940

Children allocated to activities by Playleader.  Rota parent advised where to assist.  (Drinks and snacks will be prepared by a member of staff with a hygiene certificate).

1100

Encourage children to help tidy up.  Clean tables, wash and dry dishes, put away all kitchen equipment.  Bring in outside play equipment.  Clear away and wash up paint and glue in cloakroom sink.  Children are brought together for guided group activity by Playleader/Assistant.

1145

With the Assistant, take children individually to awaiting parents outside as released by Playleader.  Check kitchen has been cleared of Pre-school equipment and that the cloakroom is clean and tidy with all paint and glue pots put away.

1200

Take home the washing bag if it’s your turn.  Finish.

Please respect the need for confidentiality of anything you may learn about individual children during the session.  If you have any concerns, please report them to a member of staff and leave the matter in their capable hands.  Do not approach the parents yourself as this can cause a lot of upset (there may be other circumstances you are not aware of).

Under our Safeguarding Children Policy parents and carers volunteering on rota duty must not take children unaccompanied to the toilet.
